A 4-year NPTO (DOE)-sponsored project to study the microscopic distribution of wetting within porous media and the effects of mixed wetting on imbibition began early in 1999. The project brings together researchers from this group and from the NMT Chemistry Dept., the Dept. of Chemical and Petroleum Eng. at the University of Wyoming and the Chemistry Dept. at Texas Tech. The comprehensive final report is currently in review.
A 3-year NPTO (DOE)-sponsored study in partnership with the University of Wyoming focused on the wettability effects of synthetic oil-based drilling muds (SBM). The project was launched in October, 2001.
This 3-year project, sponsored by NPTO (DOE) will focus on wettability and oil recovery in carbonate reservoirs in partnership with the University of Wyoming. This project was launched in July 2002.
A 4-year project sponsored by the DeepStar consortium. We are collaborating with researchers at Rice University to study deposition of asphaltenes during oil production.
